After last year's Time to Gather with Marin Formenti, join us at Hevre for the House Party with Sacrum Profanum! It is time to get together, feel at ease, build a community... Join us for three sets with the piano at the centre - let us just hang out by it without any divisions. We will make sure to provide comfortable seating while you make sure you get into the mood. If you need a break, leave and come back when you are ready again. You can move freely and even lie down under the piano. You can see through the sound and hear through the image. You can do whatever you please.
Martyna Zakrzewska / Aleksandra Ołdak: John Cage - Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano (1946-48) 60'
Sixteen sonatas and four interludes cut in half. A recorded improvisation that explores the sound of the piano using screws, bolts, pieces of plastic and rubber. Its essence is to look beyond the horizon. Therefore, over time, the measures may change and that is what this version of Sonatas and Interludes will be - reconciled, stretched between East and West. From the West, we get melody and phrase, from the East, we get rasa and raga. Rasa is about taste, aroma and essence, raga is about desire and pleasure. Indian art refers to the 9 flavours-emotions (navarasa), the most important of which is tranquillity.
The performance will be recorded live by cameras positioned around the piano, capturing body movements and facial expressions, as well as showing the inside of the instrument. The video will be processed and projected onto the screens, becoming a living part of the narrative. The concert will also be the première of Martyna Zakrzewska's album with the same pieces, published by the Rozdroże institution.

Jakob Kullberg / Matt Choboter – Like Breath of Air Through Trees / Like Sighs in the Moss (2025) 50’
Two interconnected song albums by cello virtuoso, accomplished soloist and vocalist Jakob Kullberg. The artist explores genre boundaries, including his own, with the intention of finding an authentic, indefinable style. This search takes him somewhere between pop, jazz, folk, free improvisation and contemporary classical music.
Kullberg's palimpsest weaves a web of connections in both textual and musical layers. He makes use of recomposition, quoting with extensive changes from several classical composers such as Clara Schumann, Alexander Scriabin and Johannes Brahms, while the textual layer is inspired by the American poetry of Ezra Pound and the brothers Peter and Michael Gizzi. Pound is widely regarded as one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, but his controversial political views do not suit contemporary sensibilities, which makes Kullberg attempt to distance himself from his work, overwriting it with his own words and leaving only traces and tropes (including the myth of Daphne and Apollo). The poetry of the Gizzi brothers was a way of coping with loss and grief. Michael showed his younger brother Peter that writing poetry could be a remedy for the tragic death of their father in a plane crash.
The concert will première Kullberg's songs, originally written for larger ensembles, in a new duet rendition for his voice, cello and piano by Canadian experimental pianist Matt Choboter.

Jérôme Noetinger / Andrzej Karałow** – L’ivresse transfigurée (2025) 40’
The duo of composer, pianist, improviser and teacher Andrzej Karałow and composer, improviser and sound artist Jérôme Noetinger was the idea of Grzegorz Paluch, curator of the Kody festival. Their music juxtaposes subtle phrasing and harmonic piano playing with magnetic and electronic manipulations on tape. The piano undergoes a metamorphosis in the cogs of the tape recorder, multiplying and playing with its distorted reflection. It is a journey through imaginary landscapes, with shimmering sounds and ephemeral expression.
Accessibility:
The concert offers a relaxed (to some extent) atmosphere. Due to the length of the event, it is possible to leave the concert and return at a later time. During the performance, we ask the listeners to remain relatively quiet and do not disturb others, although this does mean that you cannot move around and take a comfortable seat. In between the songs, and especially the subsequent parts of the concert, breaks will be provided to enable you to use the bar services.
The venue is not sufficiently adapted to the needs of people with mobility difficulties (access to the top floor via a steep staircase). No induction loop or FM systems for the hard of hearing will be available during the event.
Assistance for visually impaired individuals* is also available.
By purchasing tickets for these events you confirm that you have read and understood the provisions of the Organiser's Terms and Conditions for the event.
* The project is co-financed by the Creative Scholarship of the City of Kraków.
** The concert is organised in partnership with the French Institute in Poland.
Financed from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund - a state earmarked fund - as part of the 'Music' programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
